I have to digress respectfully with Miller.
The addition of hops to beer does not make it higher in alcohol
content. The amount of malt used directly equates to how strong the beer will be since it is the malt that is fermented (not the hops). More malt = more alcohol content.
Hops are a flower, and are used as a bittering and flavoring agent.
What is meant by 30/60/90/120 IPA is the amount of time the hops are boiled in the mash. The longer hops are boiled the more bitterness is extrapolated from them. Hence, the longer the boil time, the more bitter the beer. Good breweries balance the amount of malt to hops, so consequently the longer the boil time also means more malt , resulting in a stronger brew.Yes, Dogfish makes some killer IPA's .

Homebrewer for 15 years, hope this helps

It the time they continue to put hops in the beer during the brewing process. The more hops, the stronger the beer is in alcohol content. Watch out for those 90 IPAs, Doghead Fish even makes a 120 minute IPA. Couple of those and call it a nite.

I have never been able to be a fan of these heavy wacky-whacky brews. The IMPERIAL Stouts is a killa but these just lack quality. I had the 90 minute and other I-DPA and I-IPA but none worth having a second go at. My assertion is these beers have little difference other than geography.
