That occurred on the freeway at the speed around 40 miles/h. My car was on the left lane, otherwise I could have hit a car in that lane. What is wrong with my car?

Always replace brake-pads in sets.
Never, replace a single brake-pad, else what happens is what you experienced, the car is pulled towards the side which has more stopping power.

Everybody thinks brakes right away but I would recommend checking the front steering linkage/supension and the ALIGNMENT as well as the brakes. The pad could be in there crooked or loose causing uneven brake friction causing a pull

It sounds like you your left caliber might be braking harder than the right caliber. When you replaced the pads, did you replace both sides? If you didn't, you need to. You should also replace both calibers at the same time if that is the problem. You could also have a flexible brake hose on right side that is collapsed, causing more pressue to left side when braking hard. Good luck

You have a front wheel drive car. There is no weight in the rear of your car. Manufacturers have enginered under steer to help eliminate this, but they can not counter act the laws of physics at higher speeds. I expect that you have a larger car also. Chrysler is switching to rear wheel drive cars on their larger platforms for just this reason.

If a vehicle in the back of you hits you for any reason by any skill that is the different drivers fault as they could were using too on the point of take care of what ought to ensue in the front of them. by way of the undeniable fact that is the different drivers fault then their coverage must be to blame. in case you brake or swerve to stay away from an animal or fowl and reason damage or maybe demise to a distinct human being you ought to be prosecuted. I advise that you in elementary words be confident you're literally unlikely to reason absolutely everyone issues previously you're making the manoeuvre or brake as animals are literally not as major as human beings in such circumstances. thousands of birds are killed on roads generic and also you saving one in chance to you and those round you ought to be stupid - i'm confident you'll agree.

Sound like a rear wheel drive vehicle with poor traction. Check your tires - and your brakes. They could be locking up

I don't think that there's anything wrong wiyh your car unless euipped with ABS.
Sounds to me like you "locked " the brakes up temporarily when
you "mashed" them.
However, if your car IS euipped with ABS,then you've got an
issue that needs to addressed by a QUALIFIED tech.
Safety issue!!!
