Folk Lore has it that the story of vampires started with a guy called Vlad the Impaler who was a known canibal and was infamous for enjoying drinking the blood of his enemies.
Vlad, nor anyone claiming to be a vampire today are undead like the movies portray, Nor do they have big teeth or turn into bats, they just for some reason enjoy drinking blood.

Vampires are actually just fat and/or scrawny nerds who like to wear black and attempt to appear mysterious.
They couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag, so they're not much of a threat to anyone. And their teeth are made of plastic, and tend to make them drool out of the corners of their mouth. So it's easy to spot them.

yes, there is a rare condition that causes those afflicted to desire blood,but not as portrayed in films though.
