It isn't our anniversary or anything, I just want to make tonight special for her. Keep in mind that it is freezing in MN, so no suggestions for long walks on the beach, ok?

Ah, romance. Women keep expecting it; guys remain in the dark about it. And of course, most human beings -- male AND female -- believe that if they have to ASK their partner for something, it isn't as REAL as if their partner offers it spontaneously.

So good on you for taking the initiative regarding romance. Though as a word of caution, be sure she hasn't had a really crummy day before you spring the romance on her -- listen to how she's feeling, what's going on in her life outside of the relationship, and consider sending her some hints about the evening you have planned. You don't have to give anything away, but sometimes the anticipation can lead to greater enjoyment of the event itself.

Several other responses to other questions here on Yahoo! Answers suggest the following as romantic activities that women tend to enjoy or look forward to:

1. Candles. A couple of candles in the bedroom, especially if they're scented, can turn the familiar into the exotic. (And since nearly all women are culturally programmed to think they're unattractive, candlelight makes many feel sexier because they think their flaws will be concealed in the dim light. If you actually SUGGEST this to her, however, be prepared to spend some time in the ER explaining to the doctor how you came to have that candle in the location he's trying to remove it from...)

2. Rose petals. I actually first heard this years ago from the couple we were best friends with at the time: she had collected roses from their garden, removed the petals, and scattered them all over the bed. Apparently this has crept into the popular culture since the early Eighties when I first heard of it. Her explanation was that they smell nice (see scented candles, tip #1) but were also smooth and pleasant against bare skin. (That's one reason we got along so well with this couple, they always seemed as clear as we were on the whole POINT of this romance thing.) Rose petals from your garden in MN in December are probably a long shot, though, but SOME kind of flowers are a must; check your local florist, or the grocer's florist department, for something appropriate.

3. Bubble baths. Now, you may or may not have a bathtub that makes it comfortable to take baths together -- but you can always offer to set up the tub, add bath oil or bubbles or some kind of scented bath salts to make it a relaxing, sensual experience. And, of course, you can offer to scrub her back, brush the soles of her feet, and dry her off afterwards.

After that, you're on your own... but this should get things pointed in the right direction. Best of luck to you both!

How sweet! Well since it is not your anniversary or anything she will not be expecting anything. If she normally cooks dinner you could have flowers for her and dinner ready for when she gets home. Or have a bubble bath ready with candles lit. Just the fact that you want to make the night special is romantic! She's a lucky lady!

You should make dinner, a romantic dinner with candles and flowers. Play some nice smooth music. Than watch a good movie while cuddled up pn the couch nice and warm. I know this is what i would want.

Then how about an evening in front of a warm fire instead (we women love this!)? Buy a bottle wine, two brand-new never before used wine glasses, some snacks (including something chocolate) and cheese, low romantic music (think Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Harry Connick, Jr.) and then sit back and cuddle.

Have a nice, hot, bubbly bath made for her when she gets home. Make a nice dinner, (and clean up the dishes so she doesn't have to) cover the bed with rose petals, you can find them at a florist, Light lots of candles and I'm sure you can figure out the rest.

Make her dinner, then give her a sensual massage, maybe a bubble bath with candles everywhere. Then even a romantic movie with the lights off would be nice. Have fun!

One of the most romantic things my husband did for me for no reason was when we were first married. I came home and he had candles lit everywhere in the living room (on paper plates! Ghetto but sweet) and he had spread a blanket out on the floor and we had a candlelit "picnic" with pizza and soda while we talked and played card games. It was so much fun!!

for below going out a month i think of conserving it small and easy is fundamental. in case you pass all out, that would seem somewhat creepy. right this is my concept. for below going out a month, you of course choose it to final some greater. hit upon an exceptionally marvelous bakery. purchase 2 single serving slices. even per probability 2 connoisseur cup muffins. (see in case you have got a flavor pattern first, you do no longer wanna harm this with something that flavor like yesterdays oil) ask your self her at artwork or someplace unpredicted and tell her you acquire her something. Then while she asks whats the social collecting, in simple terms "casually" point out the month you 2 have in simple terms achieved. so which you do no longer seem too psycho yet you seem considerate. Then take off when you have finished your cake. per probability pass away a single flower on her vehicle. i think of something like that would completely soften me and make me brag to my pals approximately how marvelous you're.

I can say that i am in heaven when one night my bf:

-offers me one rose (not 50 of them!)
-has prepared himself a nice dinner WITH candles
-has thought of writting me a little note witht eh rose
-prepares me a sweet drink
-puts music on we both enjoy together
-that we can enjoy our dinner talking about great things and laughing away
