Despite all opposition, i can tell you that with best friends, you don't have that adjusting period where you learn the likes and dislikes of the other person. you can bet they care about you, and don't want to hurt you. the only thing to watch out for is if he says no...then it has the possibility of being awkward.

leave it alone your best friend should stay your best friend because if you date your best friend and you break up you will never be best friends again.
