I kinda know how you feel. You aren't hopeless, you're just a little shy and that's NORMAL. I'm pretty shy myself, until I get to know the guy; then I act like myself. I believe it was behind the root of being insecure, or having low self-esteem that shyness comes from. You may be confident, and sure of yourself around your gal friends or just around anybody in general. But, when it comes to a guy you really like, you tend to clam up and look awkward. Just realize, that if the guy was ANY GOOD he would like you for YOU and not for anything else. A guy that will seem like the perfect match will appear in your life; and when he does you'll know. You'll know because you'll able to speak and laugh in his presence!! You'll know when he is the one because he'll be so comfortable and sweet, that you can feel like you can be YOURSELF! That's how I meet my husband, I was a veryshy girl myself lol. Don't be discouraged or think that you're not meant to be with anyone cuz it doesn't happen right away. Good luck and look in the mirror everyday and say, "I'm beautiful and smart!" Inside and out!!"

shyness is not a disease, so there is no cure, but there is a way to overcome shyness, first when you are talking to a person, you would like to get to know better, ask innocent questions, what is their favorite: book, movie, tv show, place to eat, color. Just get them talking about them selves, after you have gathered a bit of information, you may have found a common interest. or Join groups that require participation, drama clubs theater groups, book reading groups, any thing you are interested in will have a group, all you have to do is look, and join in best of luck

Do something you normally wouldn't do. I was very shy and afraid to talk to women. The last thing you would think I did was to become a male stripper and that took care of my shyness. Not totally but it help. I am not saying to do this, but do something you know is difficult and succeeded at it

you are a 3rd year medical student. you will get your doctor degree within 3 years.
think about it. You are a future doctor. Doctors must not have shyness. When you feel it in your deep mind the shyness will be viped.

I have the same problem but I was told to get therapy and take pills. That might work for you but for me no. I don't trust shrinks myself.
