I cleaned the little ball and the rollers twice yesterday but it still keeps getting stuck. :S And just right now that I was cleaning it again, I was trying to move the pointer manually by moving the rollers with my finger but even when they're clean and rolling just fine, the cursor stays stuck. Time for a new mouse?

Yep. Time to upgrade to a laser mouse.
Never need to clean a mucky ball again.

It just might be a problem with the way you have the mouse connected. My guess is you have it connected to your usb port, which people rarely have problems with, but this still may be the problem.. you might wanna try connecting it to a different usb port on the computer, or Maybe you have your mouse connected wirelessly by blue tooth or infrared, if you do, then it may just be that particular device thats really giving you the problem, the blue tooth device signal maybe weakening, or maybe if it requires batteries the infrared receiver may be running low.. you-know.... something along those lines. check some of those things, if it doesn't seem like the problem.. then maybe the mouse specific model may not be compatible with your computer spec's or the drivers, so just check some of these options, maybe you'll find something that will help ya out! Good luck!

Try to get rid of the mechanical mouse and get yourself an optical mouse.

Don't go for the cheapest models. A good compromise for price and quality is the Microsoft Basic Optical Wheel mouse. It should cost less than $20 in online shopping sites.

If you have a bit more to spare: Try to get the Microsoft Intellimouse.
It has special buttons on the sides, so you can use them while surfing to take functionality as the "back" and "next" buttons in your browser, so you needn't to move the mouse to the button-bar at the top.

YES! I have a Logitech Marble mouse. It is red and sits on top and easily pulls out for cleaning.
I had another type and after so long, grease, lint etc it was impossible to clean and work. This is a USB type. However, the Laser type is also good but I don't like the way they handle.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
