recently its been getting worse but i keep forgetting things.
yesterday it came to me forgetting to pick my girlfriend up from work (4pm) and at 5pm i rang her asking her where she was coz i was worried and she asked where i was as i was ment to be picking her up. but i forgot all about it. and things like ill be driving somewhere and ill drive the wrong way as my brain thinks im going somewhere else. like ill be driving to shops but then end up at my parents??? some one will ring me and ask me (when im at the shop) to get them something. and ill just forget as soon as i put the phone down.. i think i have a problem with my shortterm memory. could someone give me advice or if they have had problems like this before also.
thanks.

If you are feeding yourself good food, lots of water and also sleeping well, then perhaps your body isn't the problem.
This isn't a problem of the brain. This may be a problem of the mind. You should learn about the mind and how memories are stored.

You either tired or totally stressed out buddy! Are you drinking enough water? Dehydration can cause and exacerbate this problem.... make sure you get at least 1 1/2 ltrs a day. Take it easy on yourself and use little aids to help you remember stuff - keep a little notepad on you at all times, you can even get mini-clipboard ones for the car dashboard, and just take it down when you're asked to do something or pick something up. Try doing a mind training or memory improving set of exercises, Kevin Trudeau used to do a set of tapes that goes through a course of exercises to improve memory and mind power. There's also loads of new brain trainers available as computer games for Nintendo DS and the likes. It's your working memory that seems to be at fault - this is the memory that we use to keep track of a task, like following instructions in your head, (example: pick up dogfood, tie shoelace and pay for parking ticket) a good way to train this type of memory is to verbalise the instructions you're following or else write a list and check it regularly. Buy a day to view diary and every night make a list of stuff to do the next day. Every night you can then tick off the tasks that have been completed and transfer those that still need to be done to the next day's list. Bring the diary with you throughout the day. My sister does this and it does train your memory very effectively. Good luck and get some sleep!!!

Start sleeping more, and rest your brain.. we are all normally skatty, so dont worry.. its when you look in the mirror and dont know who the reflection is, that's time to see the doctor...

My memory isn't brilliant so I put alarms and stuff into my mobile to go off and remind me. It works a treat :-)

Well, if you can remember that you forget things, it can't be that bad.
