My husband loves biscuits for breakfast so I make them almost every other day for him

Most biscuit recipes do not call for enough baking powder and the biscuits do not rise properly. Biscuit mix has sugar in it and I don't like it.

3 1/4 cups flour
6 teaspoons baking powder (be sure the baking powder is fresh and had not expired - lots of people make this mistake and the biscuits will not rise)
1/2 teaspoon salt

sift this

The take 2/3 cup crisco and work into the dry ingredients until it is a little bigger than cornmeal

2/3 cup cold sweet milk ( if you want to use sour milk or butter milk add 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda)

Stir lightly to get the doug wet and make into a ball - refrigerate

Oven - 375 preheat

Roll out the biscuits and cut them (I use an clean tuna can)

Lay them on a flat baking sprayed with Pam or buttered - sheet and pain each one with one egg yolk beatend into some heavy cream - this makes them golden brown on top)

Bake about 25 or 35 mins.
