As for whether or not it was worth $923,000 ... as long as the charity that got the money is reputable, then I say : of course. My main concern - as with any charity organization - is how much of the $$ will actually get to the people for whom the auction was held. So many times charity organizations take a considerable cut for themselves, calling it "administrative costs". Also, I'm always concerned about the what manner in which the monies are distributed - as in, who actually determines how the monies are best spent.

Proceeds go to charity so one way to think about it is that the person donated all this money for a cause and got this dress in return as a "token" thank you.
