Both the NT system and Win2k use winnt as the directory. Win95, win98, winMe and winXp all use Windows (so does win3.1 but I hope you don't use it). The \386 directory is within the winnt or windows directory - exactly where depends on the version.

All of the above. The files are put in various locations depending on their usage.
