CD-R is a Compact Disc-Readable where a CD-RW is a Compact Disk-Read/Writeable. As you may have guessed, the CD-R will only let you write to the CD once and thats it but you can read from it many many times. The CD-RW will allow you to write to the CD, adding more information to it if you need to at a later time, then read from it also. Some software will allow you to view the CD-RW as another drive on your computer, similar to your harddrive.

It shouldn't matter which one you save it to, its going to be a matter of whether you need to edit your PowerPoint presentation after you burn it to disk. If so then you will want to use the CD-RW. If you have the presentation completed and just need to store it on a medium for future use then use the CD-R.

Compact Disc ReWritable (CD-RW) is a rewritable optical disc format. Known as CD-Erasable (CD-E) during its development, CD-RW was introduced in 1997, and was preceded by the failed CD-MO in the 1988. A CD-R (Compact Disc-Recordable) is a variation of the Compact Disc invented by Philips and Sony. CD-R is a write once, read-only optical magnetic media commonly known as optical disc (though the whole disk does not have to be written in the same session) and retains a high level of compatibility with standard CD readers (unlike CD-RW which can be rewritten but has much lower compatibility and the discs are considerably more expensive).

A CD-R is used to save information for long term storage. If you do not need to edit information or delete information, a CD-R is okay to use. A CD-RW disk is used to save information for a short period of time, or for long term storage of information that is frequently edited. You can add additional files to both types of disks, as long as they file names are not the same. CD-RW disks can be erased so that you can use them again and again. CD-R disks are better if you are saving something you wouldn't want to loose, as there is no way that you can accidently erase a CD-R disk. You could use either type of disk to save your PowerPoint Presentation on, however if you plan on saving it forever, or don't want to risk it getting copied over, I would use a CD-R disk. If you need to edit it in the future, use a CD-RW disk.

Once data is written to a CD-R and the cd is finalized, you can no longer add data to it. However, with a CD-RW (rewritable) you can erase the cd and use it again as many times as you want. CD-RWs will cost more, however.

CD-R means CD-Read. You can only use it one time.

CD-RW means CD-Read and Write. You can use it several times by erasing the cd and burning info on it again.

ok it is the solutions: DVD= digital Video D? (lol sorry can not save in ideas the severe note). that is a disc, like different DVD in television. The Disc is for Video. DVD R=digital Video D? study. this is advise once you insert this DVD, you could in elementary words study as many time as you opt for yet write in elementary words one time. DVD RW= DVD study write. you could rewrite, study and burn each and every time you opt for. DVD-ROM = it truly is the actually element that once you install your DVD. Your stress, like your time-honored DVD participant. except it smaller and certain at pc in elementary words (i imagine). CD=Compact Disc. only for Audio. Very short memory. CD-R = is an identical theory like DVD-R. It in elementary words must be study yet can not be rewrite and write. CD-RW = CD study write. must be rewrite, burn and skim as many time. CD-ROM = Is the stress itself. you could not tell any diverse between CD-ROM and DVD-ROM. They probably are a similar. some cutting-side CD or DVD have compatibility with DVDROM/CDROM. wish this clarify a lot!

cd-r can't be erased, once it's full it's full.
cd-rw can be erased.

You can write to a cd-r more than once, if you don't close the disk, but you can't erase anything...

cd-r = cd recordable
cd-rw = cd recordable/rewritable
