although drinking on the job is normally frowned upon I believe that a drink here or there helps you relax I'm not talking about getting drunk at work but just a couple of beers throughout they day depending on the job can make a person more productive because they will be in a better mood I my self in the food business on a weekend night when we are really busy the owners used to send us drinks from time to time one it helped us relax during the busy dinner rush but also made \us like the owners more so we would kind of forget some of the BS associated with the job also another example I my self am an insomniac the only thing that can put me to sleep to get my 8 hours is alcohol have tried other stuff but alcohol is all that seems to work my bosses have never seemed to mind because when I don't drink the night before I am far less productive than when I do threes something about being hungover where you just want to get your stuff done and get it over with whereas with no sleep u just simple feel like crap also I find that a couple of beers loosens you up to be able to communicate with people or give u an extra-drive to be more productive for the simple fact that it makes whatever u are doing more fun the key that I have found is that u need to know ur own personal limits as far as what is beneficial and what is just being a lush

You must be very careful. Of course it makes you feel better but remember that alcohol stays on breath and also clouds your jusgement.

Try substituting drinking with something else exsercise or something. If you are drinking to perform better at work trhen perhaps look at going to anAA meeting. Once you go down the path letting alcohol dictate your life. The fun is gone and the battle starts.

Good luck.

No. *EDIT* In response to the post above me. If we legalized drugs such as marijuana what would happen? Pharmacies would sell them at cheaper prices, safely packaged and grown. Who would buy drugs from a gang when safer, and better things would be offered. Alcohol is far more dangerous and far easier to get. This is coming from a person who will not nor has not taken anything. We should legalize almost all forms of drugs, if only to take the business away from those who would use it to gain power and money. Such as the mob and the gangs. Who would get that money? The government through taxes. Which we could use to fund programs to phase our or reduce the number of gangs left.

You have an addiction to the alcohol in the beer. Just like someone needs the caffeine in the coffee to function in the morning.

I would recommend to watch yourself on the alcohol while working or even driving. There's a reason why you do not drink and drive.

Alcohol will slow your response and perhaps the inhibition is what you like about drinking.

Only if you are an alcoholic. Go to AA on line & look up the check list that indicates whether alcohol is aproblem for you.
Sounds like you will have more than one "yes" answer.

No, I am a recovered alcoholic and I function far better now than I ever did. Though I still get tired, but that is because of another illness. Stop it now while you can. PLEEZE.

some doctors say a beer a day keep your kidneys flowing but also red wine helps your red blood cell count, so i guess its all in what you belive but i cant see were it gives you a boost in the brain area,or in the work place for it does cloud your judgement so be careful and talk to a professional....

I know I get a lot more hyper and talkative and that might help in some jobs. I used to have a crappy sales job and I used to get drunk at work so i would be way more talkative with customers. Good times.
