Great Western is very good, and quite affordable. Get the extra dry, or the Brut.

Do you actually mean Champagne or are you looking for a sparkling wine? The only true Champagnes are the sparkling wines that come from northeast France, are made with a certain technique, and only contain Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier grape varieties. If you truly want Champagne, then I would suggest a non-vintage Champagne (made up of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier only) which costs about $25-45 a bottle.

If you didn't mean Champagne and actually meant sparkling wine, here are some suggestions. Italy's sparking wine called Asti is delicious... very fruity. For a mere $10, you can purchase Cava, a Spanish sparkling wine. It's more of an earthy wine. New York State makes some decent sparkling wines. From NY, I would try the producer Chateau Frank. For $15, you could try Korbel, which is made in California.

Modor Asti is actually a sparkling wine from Nothern Italy and not a Champagne per se; it is a sweeter style and very good. Another Italian sparkling to consider (if you want a drier style) is Prosecco from the Veneto (not sure of the spelling) from Italy or a Cava from Spain. If you are set on Champagne plan to at least spend 30 dollars or more.

Get you a bottle of Modoro Asti. It's the absolute best champagne, and I always get it to celebrate with. It runs around 17 dollars a bottle, but it's well worth it. It has a slight apple taste. If you don't buy it for your birthday, try it another time. You won't be disappointed.

Sorry, can't help you there. To me all champagne is icky tasting. I would celebrate with a good bottle of wine, or a great liqueur, such as Disarrono, Drambuie, or Grande Marnier.

It sounds like you're looking for something sweet. I'd recommend Martini and Rossi asti spumante..usually around 10 bucks on sale and very good. If that's too much I'd try Cooks spumante for about 4-6 bucks. Sweet and bubbly is probably your best way to go. Hope this helps.

This calls for a champagne known as "Lindauer Brut" from New Zealand, in my opinion. Available pretty much in any English-speaking country, not super-cheap, but tastes much more expensive than it is.
