I have to *make* a gift for someone's birthday, which is several days after christmas, however, they live 1500 miles away, so I really need to ship it -- which means I probably want to ship it as early as possible as well.
The girl I like is also one of my better friends, so I want it to be something memorable, but I don't want a gift to be overly romantic either.
I want it to be a real object -- not something look cookies or a CD or something.
The girl is Venezuelan, so if I could incorporate that somehow (for instance, if something had to deal with birds, use the Venezuelan state bird) that would probably work to my advantage as well
The other thing is that since I am going to have to ship it, it has to be something not too delicate, or that can be easily and safely packaged.
Please, help. I really can't think of anything that doesn't require a lot more planning ahead.

What about a friendship band with venez colours, or maybe a beaded neaklace with her name on or a message. You could go to a craft shop and find alot of things in there. At least it wouldnt be to difficult and something that she could always wear.

Why dont you make her a bird feeder (with a pic of her country bird on it ??) and a special mix of bird seeds that she can put out in the winter or spring to feed the birds in her area? She can keep the bird feeder and think of you everytime she fills it up with the "special mix" you had made just for here. It all should ship just fine with no spoilage factor...Good Luck!

How about something with chocolate. A chocolate bar with her name on it or sutff like that. Or a chocolate statue of the bird you are talking about. Easy but sweet.

how about a painting?
i got a painting from a friend before and loved it because i knew he worked very hard on it even though it wasnt all that great.
id really have to know more about the girl to help more sorry
