I do find something in LDR's, but at times they feel empty. I've been asked out by a guy that I really like. The main problem is that we are long distance. He seems to not mind the distance, but I've been in LDR's before, and don't seem to care for them as much. I really do like him, but I'm not sure if I should be in a LDR.

Should I take his offer and have a LDR, or not?
All opinions are greatly appreciated.
Guys and girls please. Thank you.

You know, I've always found LDR's just an excuse for abstinence. It's like, "...Ok, I've got that relationship thing covered, don't need to worry bout that anymore." It's an excuse to be afraid of going out and meeting new people and having fun. It's like, "...I found this great person, now I have to suffer and be miserable." LDR's make being in love su3k! You two need to accept reality... You are far apart, one of you is in a new place, the desire for emotional security is strong, but you need to accept your circumstances and embrace the the place where you are now. You will both have great experiences apart, but only if your minds are there too. Good luck!

LDRs are lame and come in two varieties. The relationship that starts as an LDR and the relationship that ends as an LDR.

First the Start LDR: You meet at a wedding or a party or online and someone doesn't live near the other. But you hit it off so swell that you say "To hell with it" and start the LD swooning process. It's great at first spending hours on the phone and writing love letters and emails to each other for a few weeks. Of course, since you don't actually go on any dates but spend more time being romantic than most couples that do date, the situation comes to a head when you meet for the first (or second) time and have sex. That changes the whole dynamic. The romance will slowly begin to disappear and now you can expect to have sex every time you see each other and spend most of your telephone time sounding more like Tommy Lee and Pamela than Bo and Hope. Withhold sex and the LDR will crumble like a five day old pie crust. Either way, the relationship is doomed to die a slow death unless one relocates to be near the other, in which case the relationship dies an instant death.

Then there's the END LD. This relationship starts out normal until one of the parties moves away. At first, it's sad because you miss each other so much. Then you hit Stage Two where you just fight all the time because there's too much pressure to have something to say or to have a great time when you actually do see each other. Stage Three is where the relationship just gets to be too much of a pain in the *** for one of the two, perhaps because they want to date someone who lives nearby. Stage Four is when the person who wants out doesn't say it but keeps starting silly arguments and fights to force a breakup. And of course, Stage Five is the brutal breakup done over the phone or in an email, in which the "dumpee" is helpless to repair the damage.

Either way, you lose. But good luck trying!

I have had online relationships and then eventually met but that is because we were only an hour away and were able to meet within weeks. If you guys are so far away that you cant meet in a reasonable time I would not advise it. There is that void that one or both of you will need to fill, that is a physical sexual relationship, so LDRs will always most likely end with cheating, So unless you can meet I would strongly not advise the relationship!!!

I hate to break this to ya but you ARE in a LDR.

What kind of LDR it is I couldn't tell you.

Anyway, my reasons for avoiding LDRs it that you always build some false ideas about the other person and the meeting is usually somewhat of a letdown.

Also, smells and mannerisms play into attraction as much, if not more than that line he's talkin'.

I don't think that LDR's are good ideas because you can't supervise or know what they are doing when they are not in contact with you, that'z like setting yourself up to be played. Also what they say may not always be true say for instance they say im not seeing anyone else over here but are and you wouldn't know that on the other side of the phone or on the internet. So no it is not a great idea. Try to find someone in close range and create a strong friend status and then if there is stronger feelings then go on to bf and gf status.

I feel that in order for a realtionship to grow, there has to be some physical aspect to it. When the relationship is long distance you don't get to see that person as much as you like. Another problem is the trust issue, you need a lot of trust. Overall, I don't think it's a good idea.

LDR's are hard on both parties ( no pun intended). I think that no matter who you are, as long as your not married, tempatation will get the best of you. You have no ties other than a title of Girlfriend or boyfriend, I say no and have fun exploring the ocean for some more fish.

the problem with long distance relationships are is that 98% of the time they don't work out cuz you're not spending an physical time together. i namely say not to cuz there's a really high guarantee that it may not work out but it also depends on the type of person you are. if you really like someone and want to give it a shot. then go ahead. but if you've had experiences that you know it wouldn't have worked out then i'd pass.

Well, you said it yourself that you had LDR's before. Experience makes you richer, meaning wiser. If it didn't work for you before because they were not meaningful, then why do it again with someone you hardly know? Try new things like LOCAL dating? Unless you're a trucker. :D
