Tomorrow, I'm having a guy friend come over for the first time. He is coming over for dinner and to watch movies. My family is in the process of remodeling our home. There really isn't a mess but there is open walls and drywall is in the process of being put on. Will he mind coming over because the remodeling? I don't want him to think of me differently....I know it sounds stupid, but I have OCD and I worry so much. And when he comes over, do I tell him we are remodeling and sorry about the mess?

yep and leave it at that if he can't handle a remodeled house and a house that isn't perfect then he isn't worth it or your time!

Just tell him that your family is remodeling your house.

When he arrives, you could welcome him with a relaxed smile and words such as "Welcome to my building site! We're in the middle of improving the house but, do come in".

Then try not to refer to it again.

If he doesn't understand all things change and progress, he's not the man for you.

Its not just him who may be judging. Use the opportunity to see how he reacts to you, your home, your family. Size him up. He's on your territory so if he is even halfway mature, he'll accept you and yours for who you are and what it is.
