It depends on how much you like him if you really like him and cant live without him do it ASAP he might be taken if you wait too long. But if he is a guy u would like to get to know better you could probably wait a while.

When should you ask HIM out? Well, I guess when you want to let him know that you are desperately aggressive. Why not tell him you enjoyed the dance and offer to accompany him next time he goes? That is not so bad.
