There's no way to tell how he feels about this without asking him directly or asking him on a date. I suggest the first option, but first word the conversation by saying that you think your feelings have changed for him and would like to know how he feels about that. Let him know that you are still willing to be friends if he isn't as interested as you are.

Ypu've known him 4 years and still aren't sure if he likes you? Well, what do you two know about one another because you obviously don't talk much.
Just tell him how you feel and see if he is interested in anything more with you. It's hard to love someone and you can't even tell what he feels on a basic level so you also might need to just relax and try to figure out what is really going on.

not relly gunna help but, i have a similar problem, i hung out with my bffs, becca and tav, and now they're going out. at first i was happy cuz i had a bf too. but after being dumped the first time im realizing, i relli like tav. sounds very bad since they been out for almost 5 months now, but i can talk to him, i understand when he talks about his cars and 'guy' stuff and he can relate when i talk about bf's n junk. we get along so well and we're in the same class at school. i thinks its relli bad but i lik him a lot. so ur problem is nothing... :S

well im a boy and ive had quite alot of girls lately at school u no how the school yard works well any way useally if i like or fancy a girl i'll tease them make fun of them i know it sound the no.1 thing not to do but its what i do and ive seen it happen loads of times so try that see if he teases you or muchs around with you :)
