OK, technically, she is my waittress, but all she does is carry out the food and take my money, that can't be worth 20% can it?

$2-3. i'm going to make it easier to recognize why I agree you ought to tip. the human beings who take care of the take out podiums (and curbside for Outback) gets a commission the comparable as waiters because of the fact they are waiters. while they are in basic terms taking takeout orders, they don't seem to be waiting tables and as a result getting paid the comparable $2 an hour in basic terms minus ideas. For this on my own I be certain which you do tip 2-3 greenbacks no count how small my takeout is.

nope. you tip for 20% service, service is the extra things a waitress does like refilling an nearly empty water glass before being asked. on the other hand since this isnt a mcdonald's drive thru window you should tip some small a dollar or two
the amount you would give to a pizza delivery guy.

I worked at a restaurant with curb side take out, we were paid more if we worked that position, $6 vs. $2.13 as a regular server. I think a tip is appropriate if you have a large order,if it took more than 2 trips for food, if the person had to schlep out in the snow, sleet, rain, go back in for change then schlep out again. Doesn't have to be 15 or 20%, but why not give a couple of bucks.

And everyone who doesn't want to tip servers EVER? Go wait tables yourself for a month, see if your opinion doesn't change.

If it'll make you feel better, give them a buck or two. But nothing more. I don't tip them. I don't tip the people at Sonic either. My philosophy is - if you're working curbside service for tips, you're at the wrong restaurant.

I do tip wait staff when I go to a dine-in restaurant, though. 15%-20% depending.

Definitely not 20%. A few bucks or more depending on how much food you ordered (she may have had to pack it all up) and for her walk out to the curb ... She deserves something, but not 20%.

There's no law for tipping/gratuity. The word "tips" means "To insure prompt service" I tip people depending on the services itself, friendliness, and the effort of completing the service. It's according to what exactly the service is. 95% of the time I do tip. I'm a server myself and I serve and treat my guest exactly like I would serve members of my own family. I don't treat them as a money amount that I will be receiving, I treat them like my family, because they are like my family. I've been to numerous weddings, birthdays, graduations, funerals. I've shared in with prom memories, births, I've laughed with them, I've also been known to cry with them

No, you don't. I had the same thing happen before. I got carryout at the coney place and the cashier asked me if I wanted to leave the tip on my credit card too. As if I was obligated to leave a tip. I said "no, I don't want to leave a tip at all". She looked at me with a mad look on her face. When I EAT IN at a restaurant I ALWAYS tip, because the waitress takes my order, brings me my food, refillls drinks and clears off my table. She Deserves a tip. But carryout? I called the order in. All the girl does is ring me up at the register. So NO, you DON"T have to tip for curbside service, nor should you. Tipping is for when you dine in.
