WE actually talk about this a lot in my woman studies class.
Some women claim to were make for themselves and no one else. However I go to an all girls school and I can tell you not one girl wears make-up. You ask them why and they'll tell,"there are no boys so whats the point?"

I personally hardly ever wear make-up and it drives my mom mad. She is always telling me how pretty I can look if I just put a little effort into it. If I just put some base on or what not. I think that is where a lot of it comes from. Parents or peers telling you can look so pretty if you just wear make-up.

Well my Matyh teacher says this "only ugly people wear makeup" *laughing* some men do actually I don't get it either I mean I've never worn makeup either except for lipgloss and when I do I feel wrong like I hate this stuff and take it off and see my natural self and feel good I guess you just learn to accept yourself just try to keep your face clean and enhance what you got don't try to look like someone else =D

Many men prefer their women with makeup! If done correctly, it enhance a woman's natural beauty.

As for women. Some wear makeup, some don't. We are not all barbie dolls, therefor it's a personal preference.

Each particular society teaches girls and boys how to be, what is feminine and what is masculine. For example, in our particular society, from the time we are born, even before we have the chance to decide for ourselves, we are placed in pink if we are a girl and a boy is placed in blue. These various influences continue throughout our lives, even if they slightly alter with the passing generations. I have news for you; today more and more men wear make-up and most of them are not homosexuals or transvestites.

Besides society's influences on each of us, you have the media which constantly pumps us with messages on what is attractive. How rare is it to see a model in the media without make-up? These messages either directly or indirectly tell us what is beautiful. The idea of what is beautiful also changes. There was a time when women powdered their face to be so white; it was considered attractive. Women are taught and influenced to wear make-up and even how it is worn, what is acceptable, changes from time to time.

Certainly, make-up does enhance a person's looks and/or covers up imperfections. Personally, I can not judge if it is good or bad to use it. It is a choice. On a daily basis, I do not use make-up and when I do use it, it makes me feel more festive. I feel sad for women who feel that they are unattractive without it.

Some women wear it to make them feel better about themselves. The women who cake it on and end up looking like drag queens kinda drive me crazy. Its supposed to look natural like you are not wearing any make up. Just to help enhance what you have. I pretty much only wear a tinted moisterizer, mascara and some lipgloss. I think thats extremely minimal, and I still look like me. I don't think women wear make up because men like it. We know they don't like it. Its a matter of preference and what you're most comfortable with.

Women wear make up to make themselves feel better. When they go out they want to highlight their best features. Eye liner for their eyes, lipstick for their eyes, maybe even a low cut shirt and tight jeans. They want to attract attention whether it from the opposite sex or the same sex. They want to feel like they are beautiful to everyone.

I often do not wear it, but when I do it is for fun. It is like painting my toenails and fingernails. It is part of the whole femglam fun of being a girl. Slinky dress. Naughty thong. Strapy high heels. Fabulous hair. And no make up? No, it is part of the dazzle. :)
