Call your vet you can get them to perscribe a couple of Acepromazine. It will calm the dog enough to make the car ride.
Acepromazine is a mild sedative they give to dogs and cats to calm them down.

What's wrong with them going crazy in the car? Maybe if you would give them rides more often they wouldn't go so crazy when they do get a ride. For a dog to stick their nose out of the window of a moving car is total heaven for them.
Why don't you just let each one have a rear window crack to stick their nose out of...?
If you can't do that, then feed them a few hours before some turkey.
If you don't want to do that, then fasten them in with the seatbelt, one on each side with their collars or get them a harness.
If you don't want to do that, then crate them, but at least leave the windows cracked a little so they can enjoy the trip just a tad as well.
As a last resort tranquilize them. But I sure hope you never have kids!

Okay.. You should take them for many SHORT car rides first to get them used to riding, because thye know the only time they go for a car ride they always go to one place.. THE VETS! right? so show them that not everytime u go for a ride its to the vets. Take short rides into your town, maybe bring along somedoggie treats or toys. Every time u go for a ride make it longer and longer, and if you have to, go to a different town. Maybe bring them to a near by pet store ( petsmart, petco) make sure they are comfortable too. If u bring a leash and they start pulling, pick them up instead of choking them, maybe even get a harness so they don't choke themselves! Maybe buy, or bring a bed if u have one. Bring something they love to do so they think u will be doing dat, like a frisbee or bounce ball! Well so just keep making short trips around town and keep making them longer and longer each time. Before you know it, they will be so used to riding in the car, u won't even know they were there! lol Good Luck! WHY DO U HAVE TO BE SO CRUEL TO PUT THEM TO SLEEP WHEN ITS JUST SO EASY TO TRAIN THEM TO BE CALM????

If you are near a large pet store like say pet smart there is a liquid you cam get or a small biscuit that have natural herbs in it that won't put your dog out but calms themdown nicely. It would take more time to get it....there is a large pet store on line and they will send you a catalog...which ever you want to do. Its called Foster Smith. They have both of them . They also have dog biscuits ,toys meds, beds clothes for dogs. They have others for just cats and another for birds and yet another for fish. Its a great place to spend time and look for all the goodies for your pets.

Give the dog about 1/4 of a 5 milligram valium-if that doesnt do it give the dog another 1/4.That will do it for sure. I give my dog a whole 10mg pill on the 4th of July every year and it works great.

you can go to your vet and get a mild sedative. I had to give something like that to our dog when we were travelling. It doesnt knock them out, but it makes them a bit groggy so they stay quiet

If you can get to the vet, go and get them to give you a setative. If I can't, then I give them the tiniest bit of a piece of valuem. They sleep the whole way.
Good luck.

well if the vet will not perscribe something, you can always hog tie the dog rodeo style and put a vet muzzle on it so it can't bark non stop the entire trip.

Put him in a crate and ask your vet if you can give him a small dose of benadryl or something to put him to sleep.
