We have a name exchange for a christmas party soon for work, I don't know this girl real well, she is new there, not even twenty yet, but has one child. She is a great person, but I have no idea what to get her, or even where to start. any ideas?

I agree with Grace. Gift certificates - either to lunch - or even to a local mall. Now you can get a gift certificate for a local mall - and they can spend anywhere they want...so you don't need to know what they like!

Gift certificates are good but why not give a pretty Christmas ornament? There are some really nice ones out there that aren't too pricey. You might also want to try getting her a Christmas stocking and put some treats in it.

Whats your $$ limit? I would say Victoria's Secret body lotions, They go on sale around Thanksgiving and Xmas like 6 for $30. You can get her a few scents along with the body spray, etc. If that isnt what you had in mind, what about a cute movie basket. Get a kid movie/comedy some popcorn and some drinks (put in a basket) . Or since it is cold get her a scarf and gloves to keep warm.

Depends on the money limit:

Old standbys for women
Lotions, Picture Frames, Photo Album....

A fun tiwist:
A body/foot scrub, or a nice foot soak.
Bath salts/"Bath Bomb", Soap Petals, PAMPERING!

As far as food goes, perhaps something a little indulgent, like a little bag of Lindt balls? Yum!
Or a few bags of rich hot cocoa from Gloria Jeans (for example), that's great to share with a child on a cold night!

Gift basket with some festive items for her and her child. Yummies always go over real well! Have a Merry Christmas!

i would go into Boots and get a 'Cute or what' item. they have some great deals too. I have brought for my co workers some stuff from that range.Especially good is the small bag containing 3 funky nail files and two neutral coloured nail varnishes - cant go wrong there. have a look, see what you think.
hope thats helpful.

How old is the child? Whats the gender? You could get her kid something cute like an I Spy book if its old enough. You could get her a holiday cookie jar with some nice homebaked cookies inside. I'm assuming it shouldn't be expensive.....but if the price isn't locked you could get her (and husband/boyfriend) tickets to something.....but you'd have to find out what she likes first. I think you should find out more about her in the coming weeks though.

They have great gifts for everyone! For a co-worker that you don't know too well, I recommend getting a few of their handmade freshly sliced bath bars in chocolate indulgence, oatmeal sugar cookie, and coco nutty!

Two things always work - Food & Money - If you have someplace like Target, or Mervyn's then a gift card is great, she then can decide if she wants to use it herself or for her child.

And everyone like to eat! Or a gift card to Ralph's or Von's!! Movie cards, the list is endless!!!

A great gift for co-workers is a gift certificate to a nearby place to eat. "Free lunch" is never turned down!
