I do to the same 3 coworkers all the time. All their names start with an S. If it's only happend twice in a few years, his brain and his mouth were clearly working at different speeds. If he did it a lot I think you'd have something to worry about. It's sort of like a parent who, angry at one child, cycles through the names of the other children (possibly the dog) before getting to the correct name.

This would definitely bother me, because I would want to be first in his mind too. Is it possible that you rarely use each other's real names, calling each other by nicknames like Sweetie or Honey? That is the only (admittedly weak) excuse I can find for him not having your name comfortable on his tongue. Otherwise, let him know how much it bothers you so he can make a conscious effort to correct himself before it happens again. Twice in several years isn't so bad though. As far as him calling you by the name of another woman he's known for years, only you know in your heart if she, not only her name, is a part of this. Good luck with everything, please work on it before the wedding.

It's a little weird but I would think it may just be a simple mistake. Sometimes if I'm thinking about someone at random, I will say their name instead of the person's I meant to say. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but maybe keep a log of how often he does it and what you're talking about at that time - then see if there's any correlation. It might make you feel better!

He could just be slipping up people do that, but if it's the same name constantly then u should check into that, if it's a bunch of different names and his friends, families, etc. names then don't worry about it

Want a simple solution? Call him DipSh*t. When he asks why tell him it's a slip of the tounge because you had an old boyfirend who did the same thing he's doing to you and he's just a reminder of that fellow from the past.
Pretty neat huh?

You should definitely tell him that it makes you feel uncomfortable...usually a slip means something more. If the only reason he was calling you by her name was the same letter, then he could call you anything that started with that letter...why her?

Sh*t i have had this happen to me a ton of times. Most of the time it is because my tongue slips but sometimes i am just thinking of the other person. If i were you I'd take his word!

deal with it- the human brain is responsible for every function of the body. every twitch every breath every beat of the heart every thought racing through his mind... if the wrong name comes out once in a while, let it go. if it happens all the time- question him.

I think that I call someone by another name because they have evoked the emotion that another usually does.
I call my husband mom if he is exasperating me, something my mother often does.
Don't read anything into this but if it is really bugging you, calmly ask him about his friendship with this woman.
