I'm not a guy and I don't have ADD. What I do have is huge case of forgetfullness. I have to be reminded of things two, three, sometimes four or five times. There's nothing wrong with me. In fact, my long term memory is better than most. But my short term memory absolutely sucks. The people in my life find it annoying, heck, so do I, but they love me so they deal with it. And, contrary to some opinions, a lack of remembering things does not constitute a lack of caring about things.

That most definately can be a symptom of his ADD. People diagnosed with ADD cannot focus on one particular thing, or have a lot of trouble doing so. Their head is a perpetual whirlwind of information and ideas, and you saying something may not always register. You may have to say something 10 times before he remembers.
Edit: For the above, no, ADD doesn't affect memory, but the ability to focus on any one thing is the MAIN symptom. Do you have firsthand knowledge of this disorder or are you just assuming and passing on inaccurate information?
Regardless, it's something you'll have to deal with being with someone who's ADD. It can be irritating, but believe me, it's just as irritating for the person with ADD as it is for you.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in the medical community is considered more like an attention problem, and is not specific to gender...what your friend is supposedly suffering from is short term memory loss. Adults with ADHD may have a history of school problems, automobile accidents or tickets or have consistent problems at work.

he may really have ADD and you should find out and ask about medication but that might be hard to go that far and can hurt his eelings so you might just want to right everything down on a list and leave it somewhere where he will see it or write things you tell him down so that he can go back and remember

believe him.
I have the ADD too and I can't remember (or pay attention to) squat.
People have to tell me 5-6 times something before it 'sinks in'.
I always ask them to e-mail it (whatever it is) to me, then I can always go back and reference it. and/or I can set up a reminder / alarm on Outlook to remind me of important stuff.
cause if I don't write it down (or have it e-mailed to me),
I'm not going to remember something that someone TELLS me.
sad but true.
