i wish it could, but sorry, memory(ram) is bought in what we call modules
modules are then put into memory banks(slots) and each computer has different types of memory and amounts that can be installed
memory comes in 4 main types, the 1st being sd-ram ,this is the 1st generation memory and is found in older machines such as pentium 2,s and pentium 3,s,sd-ram comes in sizes from 64mb and then in sizes 128mb,256mb,512mb
the second type of memory is ddr(double data rate)ram,or more commonly known as ddr-sdram and this comes in different speed types such as pc2100,pc2700,pc3200 and comes in sizes 128mb,256mb,512mb,1gb
the next type is ddr2,this is similar to ddr but operates at higher speeds speeds start at 400mhz(ddr2pc4000)these modules now have speeds of up to 1ghz,and come in sizes 128mb,256mb,512mb,1gb,2gb
the final type is laptop memory which is known as so-dimm,and this comes in sizes 64mb,128mb,256mb,512mb,1gb
you can go to http://www.crucial.com/,and there you can run a scan of your system, this will give you a full report of your system memory and this can be printed out for you to take to your local computer shop, this way at least you know you will be getting the right type of memory
any problems let me know
good luck

Ram is actually something inside your computer like a hard drive.
The actual hard part is getting the right KIND... installing it is a breeze!
1.) Shut down your computer and unplug the power... and unplug anything else that has it's own power cord. This will save you from getting jolted.
2.)Grab a Philip's screwdriver that will fit the screws on your computer. It's a + head, if you don't know what a Phillip's screwdriver is.
3.)Take off the cover and look for the parts of your computer - the power supply's the easiest to identify (it's a big box bolted to the back of your computer), and so are your hard drives (they're bolted to the front).
4.)The thing that everything's attached to? It's the motherboard - it's big but flat and has all kinds of wires and slots and stuff sticking out of it.
5.)What you're looking for is a set of 3 long slots that has something thin sticking out of it, but it doesn't stick out very far - the things are usually green. This is your RAM.
6.)On the ends there are white clips that when pushed down and away from the RAM let go of the notches cut into the side of the RAM. Make sure you release both!
7.)Take out one of the RAM sticks and take it to your computer store. If it's cheap, see if you can get at least two that are the same kind, but faster!
8.)Prices for RAM vary. Mine's cheap - 30 bucks or so a stick.
9.)Once you get the RAM, double-check they're the same kind - there are usually stickers on them and they're the same size and shape. If there aren't stickers on both saying what they are... you'll have to trust the computer store.
10.)Installing the RAM is easy - line the RAM up the right way - there are notches cut out of the bottom that match the slot in your computer. Put the computer on a firm surface, make sure the white clips are open (pushed down and away from the slot). With firm and even pressure push the RAM evenly into the slot. You may have to push pretty hard.
11.)The clips should pop up and into the slots in the side of the RAM. Double check that the clips are all the way in - it's how you know the RAM's in all the way.
12.)Put both sticks in... preferably using the slots closer to the main part of the motherboard.
13.)Ok, you're done installing RAM! Put the cover back on with the screws you removed earlier, plug everything back in, say a prayer to the geek Gods and turn on your computer.
It's hard to imagine people get paid 21 bucks an hour or more to do this, eh?

Your question is a little ambiguous. When you say memory stick do you mean a usb key, or memory card? If that's what you are referring to then that doesn't actually upgrade your system memory. The lady from CyberTechHelp.Com is right, you need to install RAM, which is distinct from memory cards/sticks in that they are installed on the motherboard. My suggestion is to take your pc to computer repair place and ask for a RAM upgrade. **384MB limit is in laptops, 128MB onboard expandable to 384MB with a 256MB RAM chip.

More RAM is a physical entity and you cant download it. You will have to buy the correct sort of memory for your PC and to give you a clue look in your motherboard documentation for RAM. Once you have bought the correct type you will then have to take the cover of your PC and push the memory, by only holding the sides, into the slot. You had better earth yourself first as static can harm your new memory. Touch a tap or radiator for example. Then make sure you put it in the correct slot. There will be about two rows of similar strips already in their slots, so choose the next available slot.

No! Its a card which you insert into your PC. Download "Belarc Advisor" and "SiSoftware Sandra Lite 2007" free for ALL the details about your PC. Once you find out what type of memory you have (e.g SDRAM, DDR,) and what speed it works at, then you can buy it. When you install it, plug it in on an angle, and let it snap in. If you computer doesnt pass BIOS (the beep at the start) you need to swap the card around till you find the correct arrangement with the other memory.
Just be sure to buy the right one, or you could have trouble - you'd be suprised.

RAM is random access memory it is a hardware and not downloadable, have to go to your pc store and buy it. Bring the old RAM installed show it and ask for a higher value that should spare you the technicalities. At least for now.
How to locate it? its actually a piece of board with chips on it. about 0.5 in X 3 in. you can remove it by unlatching it.

Unfortunately you have to but different memory modules and have them installed. Since I gather from your question that you know little about computers I'd suggest taking it to your nearest PC store. (PC World tend to be very expensive). Try shopping around for quotes.

No, you have to buy it and add it onto the board inside your PC.
There are different sizes depending on computer type. Look at your manual or go to the PC maker's website and find the exact type you need.
It's easy to put in.
