the BEST place for a southern cookbook is from a church in the south. many of them put together recipe books as a fundraiser. they are usually around $10-15, depending on whether they are a soft or hard cover. yummmmmmmmm.

I've gotten recipes from http://southernfood.about.com. My husband *loves* southern food. Or you could google for "soul food" or "low country recipes". If you did want to buy a book, I highly recommend Edna Lewis' book.
