The bone takes 6 to 8 weeks to heal. The best way to stop the pain is to stop moving your leg (sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear). Is your leg in a cast? Make sure you elevate your leg above your heart (1-2 pillows is fine) to decrease swelling. The more you try to move around now, the more swelling you're going to have and the more pain you're going to have. Take it easy with anti-inflammatories (i.e. Advil, Aleve, etc) because they can slow down the healing process, which would be counterproductive.

You still have an acute injury to AVOID heat. Don't put heat on it until at least a week after the date of injury. My first suggestion is the standard RICE protocol. Rest, ice, compression, and elevation will help keep the swelling from increasing more. Also try doing a lymphatic massage to your leg and ankle. Start in your lower thigh and do light strokes (slightly harder than you would pet a cat) in the direction of your torso. Work your way down to your ankle. This technique will help move the liquid away from your ankle. It is best to do this in bed with your ankle elevated. If you can have someone else do it for you while you lay down, all the better. Do not over ice as you can cause more damage to the skin and nerves. Put ice on, or better yet fill a bucket of water with ice water and dunk you foot, but do not leave the ice on from more than 30 minutes. Once the skin reaches normal body temp again, do the ice again. Also consider going to the doctors. If you foot is purple, its a bad sign and there could be something broken.

Honestly, besides a hot pack/ice pack, Keep it elevated to reduce swelling. try taking ibprofen with your pain killer, it's an anti-inflammitory and when used in combination with a pain pill it works really well, I found out that ibprofen sometimes works better than the pain killers. Good Luck

sorry to say, i know you don't want to hear it. but there is no miracle pill out there to take the pain away everytime you move it. time will heal all wounds. in time you will get used to it to the point of not feeling it when you move your leg. in the meantime. take it easy and try not to be too bummed out about it.
get better soon. good luck.
