Somehow I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four Cs. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.
~ Walt Disney.

Walt Disney is my choice!

There are still among us that feel that they are losers, not knowing how potential each person is and the contributions one can make. It is not homelessness but hopelessness that is the ultimate lost cause. Yet, we can all stretch out a helping hands to those who have assumed that if 'the battles are lost, the war is lost too'. So we are all winners and will be winners if only we reach into our souls and bring out the best in us....

Try Albert Einstein or Thomas Edison. Both were thought to be 'retarded' as children. Also, Danny Kaye had several failed employment situations before entering the entertainment field and becoming a star. A similar tale can be told of George C. Scott, who was a truck driver before entering the acting field as a middle-aged man. Additionally, Leon Uris, author of several international blockbusters, is a high school drop-out.

For more examples of persons who excelled after appearing to fail, you can consult "The Teenage Liberation Book" by Grace Llewellyn. It should be available from your local library. This book also tells how to find even more examples of what you're looking for.

Another good source for inspiration might be "Late Bloomers" by Brendan Gill, which tells the stories of many famous people who didn't succeed until late in life.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "winner" and "loser". I know a lot of high school jocks from 10 years ago that have five different babies from 4 different mothers and work for 6 bucks an hour bouncing at a dive bar.

My good friends boyfriend was one of those that nobody talked to. He was kinda nerdy, real skinny and very short, but he was so so smart. I treated him just like I did any of my friends.
Later, my kindness paid off. He developed his own software and started his own company and asked if I wanted a job as executive admin assistant....hell yeah! I made good money while working there; and he made a great living and married my friend from high school, had 2 kids, a house, great parties, and his own company.
And no, its not Bill Gates.

Lincoln was assassinated in public.
That's an odd definition of success.

Bill Gates has close to 100 billion dollars. . .
Nobody on Earth deserves that much for anything.

He could spend 99 billion dollars and still wake up a .. billionaire.
