NO NO NO!!! No Tylenol, Advil, or any other pain reliever besides plain, pure aspirin. Tylenol, Advil, etc., can cause severe internal damage to dogs, even if only given sporadically or in small amounts.
And ONLY give aspirin on the advice of your vet. Aspirin thins the blood, and with a dog who has an incision, this can cause additional problems.
And as has been said, if you take away the pain, the dog might start running around and injure themselves more.
Contact the vet, explain the situation. There might be an emergency clinic in your area that you can call tonight.

Do NOT give your dog any medication unless your vet has recommended it. There are substances that are perfectly fine for humans to digest, but are toxic to dogs. A perfect example of this is chocolate. Call your vet and see what they recommend. There might be a problem if your dog is still in pain two days later. I recently had my 7 month old Vizsla neutered and he thought he was absolutely fine the next morning. Call your vet. Unfortunately, you may end up taking your dog back to the vet, but that is part of being a responsible pet owner.

Do not give your dog any medication unless your vet says it is ok. Dogs metabolize these differently than we do and it can make him seriously sick or dead.
Is he eating and drinking??? most times it is better for the pet to be in some pain so they are not running around like crazy 'animals' and rip the stitches. If he goes off food you have to call the vet if you care at all for the dog. If he is eating, drinking, and has normal 'bathroom' habits than just check the incision once in awhile to make sure it is not infected and leave him alone. I really think dogs are much smarter than people think. If you baby him too much he may just be putting on a good act...
again, no human meds!!!

My dog gave birth two weeks ago.She is a golden retriever.I started peri-care with baby wipes and warm water right away. Lots of green...eeew. After a couple of days I took her outside and using a mild puppy safe shampoo (I use Solid Gold's Super Sen Gelle- it's organically ph balanced) and my watering can with warm water I gave her a mini shower in the backside region .She seemed to really appreciate it.Make sure not to get shampoo inside her vulva because it will probably irritate her and cause her discomfort.Rinse really well. I have eased up my worrying a bit.I figure if they were in the wild mom would be covered with leaves and sticks, especially dirt including her nipples.I was worried about them choking on all this fur mom is shedding (And they are pulling it off her with their sharp little nails- do mom a favour and trim those nails.) Mom desrves a spa moment I imagine! Good Luck!

NEVER give a dog or cat Tylenol. It has Acetaminophen in it, which is toxic to dogs and cats. Call your vet, if they're closed try looking up an emergency clinic that's open 24hrs, your vet may have an emergency number listed on his/her answering machine.
At any rate, try to get in touch with a veterinarian and ask them what you can give your dog, what dose, and for how long. Low dose aspirin may be ok for a short period of time (no longer than a day or two).

Don't give your dog any human medicine. Just a soft bed. I f he does not heal after a week or so see if you can make some sort of deal with a vet. They don't want your dog to be in pain anymore than you do.

no, i don't think that's a good idea.. tylenol isn't good for dogs and may do more harm than good. call your vet and if they're not open i'm sure they have an answering service and a doc on call. depending on your dogs' weight, i know baby aspirin has sometimes been used but i recommend your vet give you the right answer on this. hope your doggie feels better.

I just had my dog neutered also. I could tell he was in pain and he was crying. The vet tech is correct about the poor thing being in pain and the vet knows it. They don't give them anything because they don't want them to move around or jump.
WELL, I said BULL Pucky to that. My poor puppy was in some major pain. FINALLY the vet said he could have baby aspirin. But the vet didn't like the idea. Needless to say, I am getting a different vet. SO, give him the baby aspirin. I gave mine one and then only half pills after that.
My daughter uses a different vet and when her dog was neutered, her vet gave her pain pills for him. He didn't want to see him the puppy suffer.........Figure that out!? Vets are like doctors, they are all different.
Go get the baby aspirin for the poor baby!!!!

Absolutely not. Dogs can only have 'buffered' aspirin. It has a special coating on it for the sensitive stomach of a dog. This can be bought at the drug store pretty cheap.
