lol just kidding but you would have to make sure your computer is set to boot to cdrom first . this setting can be found in your system bios . you can access the bios by hitting the delete button on most computers f10 for some Compaq computers or f1 for some others during the initial boot screen . than insert a boot able CD such as your operating system installation CD . good luck

Well seeing as floppy drives and disks are going the way of the Dodo bird (just like the zip drive did), use a bootable CD. If your using it for your Operating System, that's bootable. Just stick it in and restart. Watch the screen it will prompt you to do things to start it.

You can boot the PC using either the Windows CD that came with it. (Some PC makers give you a "recovery" or "system restore" CD instead). If you do not have one, check the Internet. There are dozens of places where you can download the file(s) needed to create a bootable CD.

We IT professionals still use floppies for certain diagnostics. Use a bootable CD-ROM (like your OS install CD). If your motherboard and BIOS supports it, you can also use a USB device such as jump drive.
