You still are penalized for possession in Canada, Marijuana is not legal. However misdemeanor possession which is around a gram usually only carries a fine.

Yes, we waste way too much money enforcing this stupid law and punishing people who break it. Not to mention the lives that are ruined when they are busted for possession. We won't though because too many people, including rich respectable people, make money off it being illegal.

Yes. For one thing a lot of people in prison for non-violent crimes are there because of small amounts of pot.
