First of all -- try talking to your mother -- YOUR father should have left a copy of his DD214 (Discharge Papers) with either her or some family member IF he has had ANY Military Service in his background.

IF these papers are not available from your mother or your father's family, and you can PROVE that you are the direct relative of your father, then you can go to this site and request a copy of the deceased father's military record:

vetrecs.archives.gov
