that is why bottles of ammonia say use in a well ventilated area
constant exposure to the odor in your home could put the kids at risk for respiratory problems later on in life

It is filth and children should not be allowed to be living in it. What type of parent would allow that? Dogs need to go outside, not in a house or area where people are living and eating. If you know a parent that allows a dog to go in the house with children around and does not clean it up, I'd call Child Protective Services on them for neglect.

Ammonia is an irritant. It will cause upper respratory problems which could leas to permanant issues in the future. Short term coughing, sore throat and other similar symptoms are signs of irritation. Fresh air for those kids, and a good cleaning for that spot.

How does ammonia affect you when you smell it or breathe it in? It hurts the mucous membranes of the nose, throat, esophagus and lungs. It can cause severe infections and diminished lung capacity it can also cause asthma and other breathing problems. Not to mention the filth factor....
