I asked a question and really could not be arsed to spell in the usual way since it was after 12 midnight, instead i used 'txt language' eg, nite for night, gr8 for great and all i got was a load of abuse calling me uneducated. they made themselves look stupid though because they couldnt even use basic grammer! I just want to know if any one agrees that its ok to use 'txt' as long as it is clear what it means?

Just ignore them, babe. They're just saddo's with nothing better to do with their lives. Or all too old and set in their ways to understand the 'txt' speak. There's way too many of them about nowadays. It's your human right to speak in whatever way you like. Just stay strong and keep smiling xD

Lol @ Ian69 & Juan, dat was so funny! Hehehe! Anyway, (or should that be neway?) I think if you are asking a question to which you expect a decent answer you should use proper grammar. I find it extremely difficult to decipher what the writer has written and usually give up reading the question half way through.
Also, I would like to point out that a hell of a lot of people on here put down black people, so why would some want to sound like them IE, y wud u want 2 sound like dem? Dat as got 2 b rite innit.....See what I mean?? I'm not racist by the way, simply sounding off.

What might be clear to you might not be clear to others so you may well restrict your replies or you might just get: "a load of abuse".
You said yourself that you could not be arsed to spell in the USUAL way so is it any wonder that people couldn't be arsed to send sensible replies? On the other hand, if people can't be arsed to reply properly - why do they bother at all.

I think you answered your own question when you spelled "asked" incorrectly as arsed and grammar you spelled as grammer.
Remember when you point a finger at someone else, there are 3 pointing back at you.

Maybe, if you could not be bothered to ask a question properly, then you do not deserve a proper answer. Do you have no respect for other people at all? Some people come to this website purely to help other people.

Depends on the situation. In casual conversation, yes; in anything more, no. It irks me to see a "gr8 idea" in the middle of an engaging discussion, since it seems so incongruous.
It is absolutely fine in casual dialogue, though.

2b honest its not mod as such...its sort of speedwriting but a little different. I have no problem with the way anybody puts the words, I can usually decipher what they are trying to say...and those that say people are uneducated shouldn't stereotype as some people have learning difficulties, dyslexia etc.
compassion and understanding is the name of the game.

Each to his/her own! If you want to use it, fine. And if someone doesn't want to read it, fine. But there is really no need to verbally abuse anyone who uses txt language - afterall, a certain well-known dictionary is now including txt language entries in their newest edition.

depends on what the fourm was where you were writing like that. In some instantces its Ok to type out txt,lol,gr8 etc.... But in others its like shooting yourself in the foot, because it does indeed make you look like an uneducated idiot. Watch where and when you use them to prevent anyone fro getting the wrong idea about you.

Txt is clear to whom? You did not get the others' clues. None of that spelling is ok to those who were reading your question. I don't actually know where it would be ok. I like to see plain English, as that is our language. We are not mice, some lower element that must like that gibberish.

some people are really petty on yahoo answers, its not as if we are at school anymore, theres not a teacher having to correct our spelling mistakes.
Others will report you for anything if they just dont like the sound of you - ive been violated a few times for stupid things. just ignore them, you dont know them so it doesnt bother you. Just think of it like this, theres alot of smart arses in the world thank god your not one of them.
