Lounge suit is a normal 2 piece suit, usually a 2 button jacket and single-pleat front trousers. a normal tie is usual, not a bow-tie, which is worn with a tuxedo (Dinner Jacket) and pleat-front formal shirt.
For a Christmas 'do', a christmassy tie is a good idea unless it is a formal event.

It is just a matching jacket and trousers.
Have a look in the men's department in any clothing store and you will see lots of suits and usually the shirts and ties to go with them. If you prefer, you can buy a matching jacket and trousers separately. Any suit will do. Don't stress about it. Tell your dad to enjoy the do.

Think Elvis in Vegus.
