no, it would just perpetuate an injustice. encourage that person to report to the police and tell him what matters most will be that "the truth shall set us free."

It would depend on the circumstances, but maybe I would....

There are times when being a real friend isn't refusing to "enable" a situation but is, instead, just helping that friend get through what he may have no choice but to go through.

I may want to look into ways the blackmailing could be stopped or see if there was someone else who could help my friend in a more productive way than just lending money - but, again, in certain circumstances I can see how I would choose to lend the money.

Negative, the black mailer will just continue to black mail this person. The person that is being assaulted needs to make a complaint even if it means information being opened up that could cost a marriage or friendship.

It depends. If it was to save a life yes I would.

But I would get a money order first!

i don't lend money-ever
i either GIVE money as a gift and never expect it back, or i don't give it at all....
...that rule will save you a lot of resentment when it comes to trying to collect on debts

If you do, you have to know that money is gone and you will not get it back. Do not be foolish enough to think of it as a loan. If you cannot afford to lose it then do not do it.
