Grouping ppl to gether is just saying like hey tey are black ppl or they are latino ppl. Sterotyping is when you overgeneralize and attribute a characteristic to that group (usually its something negative. (like black ppl are ghetto, or all asains are smart.)

stereotyping is bad for group relations because ppl wouldnt take time to get to kno wthe individual...ppl would judge before they get to know someone.

The main stereotype that deal with on almost an everyday basis is that i wear weave hair extensions and i that my light brown eyes are contacts. ppl assume that im wearing weave and light brown contacts just because im black...thats like the first thing ppl ask me (Its that yo real....blah, blah, blah....) thats soooooo rude.... but im not wearing weave or colored contacts ( not that theres anything wrong with it....you go girls who do....) but its just something i have to deal with..

The difference depends on what you actually mean by "simply grouping people".

Stereotyping involves attaching GENERALIZED LABELS/CHARACTERISTICS. So if you just say, "They're are a group of students"..full stop...that's probably "simply grouping people". If you say, "They're a group of students, and they all probably likes rock music". That's stereotyping bcos you're attaching a generaliZed label - "likes rock music".

Examples of stereotype in my society includes (without any positivity/negativity attached):
- chinese people can speak chinese language.
- all Malays likes hot and spicy food.
- people who love clubbing are bad/naughty people
- all males have watched porn in their lifetime (this one is probably an accurate stereotyping)
