I recently acquired a Ubuntu CD, and while I'm used to Firefox, OpenOffice, Thunderbird, etc, I'm wondering what the Linux equivalent of Dreamweaver 8 is?

Use the Synaptic Package Manager in Ubuntu and Manage your Repositories - Choose ALL the repositories listed and update - Do a search for web develpment - there are ALOT of packages you can try and Synaptic will handle the install and uninstalls for you. (alot easier than downloading and installing the source code or tar files).

You might try Wine http://www.winehq.com/ to see if it will port Dreamweaver.

I haven't found an equal to Dreamweaver, but there are some good authoring tools.

Nvu and PHP Designer are good.

Oops, PHP Designer seems to be Windows only.
