Most times the kids who endured the pain of braces and headgear turn out with the best teeth Do you think it's worth it? Is dorky?

Well, I have braces, and I'm not a dork. I'm not trying to be cocky, but I am one of the cooler kids at my school. My sister had braces and her teeth are FABULOUS! It doesn't really hurt to have them untill they tighten them, and that pain goes away in a week. I think it's totally worth it, because my teeth are as unstraight as can be. I mean, who would want to marry someone with disgustingly crooked teeth? Gwen Stefani had braces, and look at her teeth now!
As for headgear, it's mostly a sleeping issue for most because you only have to wear them at night. I haven't had them yet, but what I hear is that you can't sleep on your sides, only straight and looking up. This isn't exactly a popularity issue because no one will see them.
All in all, braces and headgear aren't dorky unless:
a)you don't clean them
b)you were dorky before you got them
c)you continuesly lick and poke them in public
d)you have to wear you headgear in public

Yes, they are dorky, but the end results are worth it. My parents could not afford braces for the first three kids in our family (the younger three got them). Believe me, I would have put up with the dorkiness to avoid the teeth problems I have now.

I think it would be worth anything to achieve good teeth. "Dorky" is in the eye of the beholder--it shouldn't be in the eye of the one who has to wear braces and headgear.

i don't think that is dorky or any thing because it is true the people that usually have braces and head gear are usually the ones with a very good smile and if i was one with head gear or braces i would be laughing at the people that don't have them and i will think that they are the ones that have to deal with bad teeth and a bad smile so no i don't think that it is dorky and i would do it.

its well worth it...headgear these days is almost obsolete and at most worn at night while sleeping...braces arent dorky, just a phase you go through...it was def. worth it for me bc most of the compliments i get are about my smile...

Probably, but who cares! Find people who like to be around you because you're you, not because you're cool, and one day you'll have a gorgeous smile that other kids are jealous of. I know. I was one of those braces and headgear-wearing dorks. Now I'm happy that my parents fussed at me to make sure I wore it!

And not only does it make your teeth look better, but it will also reduce the risks of painful TMJ aches later in life.

Headgear works great when it's worn as prescribed. It fixes the "bucky beaver" look.

So I guess if I had to say which is dorkier, headgear or bucky, I'd say bucky is dorkier.
