How many of you think it's the governments's job to make sure everyone has plenty of money, free healthcare, free everything? For those of you who believe this, why is the responsibility of paying for it put on the backs of taxpayers to pay for the ones who are sponging off the system? For those of you who believe that, why not make the spongers get a job or cut the free money out? Where is it written in the constitution that we the taxpayers have to care for spongers and lazy people? Now, having asked those questions, here's one more, do the Democrats use this system to buy votes from the poor and disenfranchised and isn't that a form of slavery?

Let me clear things up, I am not referring to people who really need it. We do noy have a system of checks and balances to find the spongers and get them off the system since they would be considered able bodied enough to work. We require nothing in return for a free check. All I am saying is that spongers should have to do some work in order to get a check that way we are not just giving away free money. I do have a heart and agree that the ones who truly need it should get the help until they can turn their individual situations around.

Of course it is, you have the nail on the head.
The Constitution says nothing about a welfare system - granted times have changed and you and I do not want to see children starve or be without a home, but at the same time it invites a cycle of poverty. And the poor are slaves to the poverty - generation after generation.
Less government, less taxes, incentives to work have to be the course.
Shame on the Democrats for taking advantage of people's desire of something for nothing.

As cruel as it sounds, the best (only?) way to separate the truly needy from the spongers is the see how they react when faced with starvation if they don't support themselves. If the government stopped confiscating all the money used for 'welfare', the American people, though PRIVATE charities would take care of those who truly need it. It worked for decades before the government stepped in.

how do you come up with this B.S. of some one being disenfranchised who? the poor? they are not disenfranchised they are poor period and some are poor because they either have a lot of bad luck , or just not able to manage or make enough, then you have the sorry *** lazy ones who won't work period,, I agree about the spongers, if they are able to work the gov, should have a position for them even if it is sweeping the streets, believe me a lot of them need sweeping , welfare should be as it was intended in the beginning, for the disabled, widows and orphans, people who have had a bad luck streak temporally,
but, we have generations living on welfare who have never held a job, I don't think this is what America is all about or the welfare system

You know what.....sounds like you are mad cause you didn't get something for free so why sound anyone Elsa....
Let me tell you something about people who need the system to help get along....
It's not so simple for them either....
They have to do alot.....here in my state they have to go to meeting to help find a job then they can only be on the system for 60 months their whole life....
So..the faster you get off it....when you can work....it's there for them when so thing happens in the future.....and Like I said..
it isn't as free as what you think....they also have to claim it on their taxes.....
Maybe you should check things out before you start to pick on people who need it...
There are lazy people who you say use the system...and in the end...it will bite them in the butt

dont be selfish, alot of those people need that money' like single parents, disabled people, people that work but cant afford rent "and" food, mabey thier job does not provide health insurance and they dont make enuogh to pay for it and keep food on the table, they could be to old to work. not everyone on welfare is lazy or just mooching off the taxpayers money. i dont mind paying taxes for that cause if i ever was in a situation where i needed welfare than i would know that i payed in and would be glad i could get some of it back.

How about this, almost every federal worker is in the civil service union - which forces members to pay union dues, and which in turn fund the Democratic party.
While it doesn't excuse Republican corruption, it certainly isn't good for America.

I for one am tired of the Welfare scum, sucking this country dry. And yes the Dems use them for votes. They have done it for years and will continue to do it. Sad isn't it?
