I don't like the dressing up part; I'm not the sort to get all silly at costume parties. However, in this day and age when so many people work and nobody interacts with their community anymore, I kind of like a holiday that is focused on community. It's a day when people are encouraged to be neighborly, giving out candy to the local kids, saying nice things about their costumes and such. Kids learn who their neighbors are, see that they are friendly people and practice saying "thank you!" a lot. I like those aspects of the holiday.

I enjoy Halloween. I like to pass out treats to the kids and see them all dressed up in their costumes. Brings back happy memories of when I was a kid. It's especially fun when you pretend to not know who they are when you really do. They get all excited because they pulled a good one on you.

I like Halloween because I have kids. I took my youngest trick or treating for the first time, it was great. So i guess the answer is that people with young kids like halloween.
