just get the normal metal ones...might not look the greatest...BUT...
with invisalign, your teeth have to be pretty straight already...PLUS...my ortho said i wouldve had to have had invisalign like 6 years...when i had my regular braces for 3.
i'd say the normal ones are good.

You have to talk with a dentist as it was mentioned before. Not everyone qualifies for invisalign which are the plastic braces you referred to. In my case i did not qualify and so far I haven't met anyone who has and you'll probably spend more on the invisalign vs you just getting metal or ceramic braces. From what research I've done Ceramic Braces may cause a longer treatment than metal. Although I have also read that the ceramic do not irritate you as much as the metal but all in all personally I've chosen metal and to just wear colored bands. You won't look like an idiot. And if anyone thinks you look like one then its as the saying goes "it takes one to know one"

When I had braces (and I wore them from 3rd grade until a senior in high school), we did not have a choice - they were metal. I went through all of my formative years with braces. Be glad that you have a choice. Talk to your orthodontist about the advantages of one versus the other. If there are no mechanical differences (if it doesn't take longer with one or the other) then go for what you like. I have seen the clear ones, and they appear to provide a much less of a "metal mouth" appearance. Braces are so accepted these days that it really doesn't make a lot of difference. Straightening your teeth though will add volumes to your social life when it really counts so go for it!

Your dentist will advised you to which bracess you need first of all. If you are talking about train track braces then it is your decision as to which ones you would prefer. Also it depends on your budget aswell. I had metal braces with coloured part on them, and they were fine for me. If you get coloured ones then everytime you see the dentist, you usually get the opputunity to change the colour. Most people see braces as a nuisance and that they look awful, but they really don't. People are so used to seeing them now a days that they are definately not considered ugly anymore! Just think of the results and how beautiful your smile will be after.

Well you should get colored cause they look cool and you can change the colors every appointment if you want.
I dont have any experience cause I haven t had them yet ( but im getting them in like a week AHHHHHHH!) but all my friends had them.
They said to take pain killers before getting them on, adjusting appointments, and when getting them off.
They also said use the wax or the gel alot cause you will get cuts on the inside of your mouth if you dont. Dont ever eat nuts ( that a bracket break waiting to happen.
And when you get ur retainer (eventually, it will seem like a long time) USE IT!...my friend is having to repeat her treatment allover again because her teeth went back (it sucks)
So yeah thats what I know
Good luck! ;)

I have vraces and they're something so many people wear, that is not dorky to wear them. Everyone understands having braces. Just get normal metal ones and you put colorful rubberbands on them.

I dont think it matters... Regular metal braces dont hurt or anything unless you get them tightened, which is maybe once every 6 weeks. And invisable braces break really easily and are super exspensive.

i have braces.. metal. it doesn't really matter that i don't have colors because with metal braces.. your teeth move faster. i was supposed to have braces for 2 years! i only have to have them for 10-11 months.. i would get metal

I would suggest you go for the invisible ones since they are less noticable.
Since you don't want to look like an idiot, but really you won't look like an idiot. Lots of kids and adults wear them and have worn them and didn't/haven't found them ugly etc.
