Everyones gums look like that when they pull there lip down its called the health line.....you may have a slight infection in that area gingivitis or a pocket cause by periodontitis where food is being trapped which both will cause pain.......best make an appointment to see the hygenist in the mean time rinse with a saline mouthrinse floss particulary that area or use interdental brushes to clean thoroughly in that area.

It sounds like you might have a gum disease. You need to floss everyday and brush at least 3 times a day, brush your gums too.
I would see you dentist and ask him/her about what you can do to help the pain and redness go away.

do not rinse with mouthwash....use a cap full of hydrogen peroxide in a half a cup of warm water and rinse with it....because of the sugar and alcohol in mouthwash it can make infections worse.......I know this sounds weird but my dentist told me to use vanilla extract on the gums and teeth to relieve the pain...i didnt believe him but I did it anyway and it worked...plus it doesnt taste as bad as some of that other stuff.....you may have food stuck in between your teeth back there so get some dental floss and use it.....it may bleed a little though....but it will be ok.....after you floss rinse your mouth with the peroxide solution...if it doesnt resolve in a few days of doing this you need to see your dentist

You may have gingivitis and other periodontal disease as well. If so, then peroxide, vanilla extract and whatever won't help you now. What you need to do to solve your gum problems is to see a dentist who may refer you to a Periodontist.

It sounds like you have gingivitis and you need to see your dentist cause it will cause serious perio problem. which if the perio gets bad than they will have to operate to fix the problem so save your self the trouble and get it look at now

All the advice stated above is very good advice. I'm not trying to question your hygeine or anything, but you may need to floss more often?

You need to go to the dentist. In the meantime if it hurts, try rinsing with Listerine.
