Do u mean an operation like gettin her under general anaesthesia coz if that's what u mean well that could be done 4 2 reasons.one of them is if ur daughter is
really UNCOOPERATIVE and the dentist can't get her 2 even sit on the chair,or if she has MULTIPLE DECAYED TEETH and she's TOO YOUNG like 3 or 4 years old!
well anyway, yes deciduous teeth MUST BE FILLED,they're so important in maintaning the space 4 the permanent teeth 2 come out,
so the thing is if u leave her teeth 2 decay, they will get inflamed..terrible pain..and finally abscess will form and u will have 2 choices either 2 KEEP HER UNDER ANTIBIOTICS untill the time of shedding ,(because u know she'll finish a course of antibiotics and the abscess will fade out then after a while the abscess will appear again because u simply didn remove the site of infection which is the decayed tooth),,,or the other choice is TO REMOVE the tooth and LOSE THE SPACE..and that's another thing that u should know that extracting a deciduous tooth b4 it's time of shedding will cause a misguide 2 the permanent growing tooth that wud come out at any place( like a canine growing in the palate),or that space will be taken by the tooth nearby,,,,but if u have 2 extract it u should do what is called space maintaner as sooooon as possible...
SO ISN'T IT EASIER 2 JUST FILL IT
just reconsider that operation thing with another dentist opinion

Well how bad is the cavity? Also how old is your daughter?
I think you should take care of the teeth now they may hurt and end up way worse with the nerve getting bad. My daughter had hers pulled out at 2years old shes Now 3 and missing her front tooth but its better in the long run the other tooth was chipped and had a hole all the way to the nerve. She must have been in pain all that time we left it chipped. Just be sure the dentist is GOOD and ask all the right questions.

Yes it is very worth it, if you don't get that cavity out of your kids baby tooth then it can go up into the adult tooth before it even comes to the surface. And that is VERY painful.
So take your kid to the dentist to get her a filling or what ever needs to be done.

Yes. Untreated cavities in baby teeth will damage the permanent tooth developing underneath.

operation???? I think they just need to drill the cavity out and replace it with a filling....
but yes, it needs to be done unless the tooth is almost ready to come out anyway because cavities grow and can eventually affect the adult tooth also...

Yes, it is-those teeth are not ready to come out so the cavity can really harm the new tooth to come out. If your child has cavities it is always better to have them filled or treated so the new teeth come out alright went it's time.

I say it depends upon her age and if she is in any pain. If it was my daughter since she is 4 1/2 I would wait unless it was causing discomfort for her. In the future make you help her brush her teeth in the morning and in the evening. Also limit the sweets late at night and never let her fall asleep with a bottle.

"Drilling for dollars" on toddlers is soooo much fun. NOT!!!!! "Baby" teeth are there to maintain space and allow for the jaws to grow and make room for the permanent teeth. They are very important for proper growth and development. Also baby teeth are softer than permanent teeth and the decay process rapidly progresses. If you're worried, you might want to check out a pediatric dentist that has additional training. The pediatric dentist can sedate your child and make the visit as pleasant as possible. This is very important to avoid a life-long fear of the dentist.

If your dentist is suggesting it then do it. My daughter's dentist has been watching a cavity of hers for 3 years. It's not getting any worse and it's not getting any bigger. He says don't do anything about it unless it gets worse or starts to hurt.
I think if your dentist says it needs to be done then it is bad enough that it needs taken care of.

It could be years before the tooth falls out naturally and in that time the cavity could get through to the nerve. I think it needs to be filled.
