Not harmful for adults. The only reason not to give flouride toothpaste to kids is because they SWALLOW too much and can get sick from the paste. That is why kids are given flouride tablets to chew on once a day (prescription from dentist or doctor).
You need flouride to keep your teeth healthy and prevent decay.

I'm not sure about other kinds of toothpaste, but I have white streeks all accross my teeth from floride toothpast as a child. I don't think it should matter if we're children or not, I don't think it's a good idea to put anything in your body that can do that no matter how old you are.

BECAUSE CHILDREN SOMETIMES SWALLOW TOOTHPASTE CONTAINING FLUORIDE, AN OPTION IS TO GET A PRODUCT W/O FLUORIDE FOR THEM UNTIL THEY HAVE PROPERLY LEARNED TO SPIT IS BEST. HOWEVER, FLUORIDE TOTHPASTE IS IMPORTANT FOR CHILDREN BECAUSE THIS TYPE OF TOOTHPASTE WILL MAKE THE TEETH MORE RESISTANT TO DECAY. FLUORIDE TOOTHPASTE IS NOT HARMFUL TO ADULTS.
