The first thing to try is tea with honey... soothes the throat. After than get some sleep and let it rest. If you're still struggling with your voice see a doctor.

It is probably viral and time is the only answer. In the meantime, rest your voice as much as possible by not talking unless absolutely necessary. You have my sympathy. Hope you feel better soon.

Do not whisper that actually puts more stress on your vocal cords.
Rest,warm drinks,and throat drops can help ease the discomfort and speed up healing.

make a ginger juice then gargle it for about 3-4 times a day! it works immediately! it's very effective, i'm a choir member and i usually do that everytime i have that kind of problem.

Rest it... don't talk unless you have to. Try drinking hot tea as well.
