As far as a dog licking you on the face or mouth, that is too much. They have a lot of germs in their mouth that you would not want to get and make you sick. But at the same time a dog can lick a sore or open wound on you and it will heal very very fast.
This information came from a TV show on animals and it was proven to be correct. As they took samples from a dog and tested it. You should see the germs in their mouth, but yet they heal a sore or wound so fast. A humans mouth is cleaner than that of a dog.

I don`t think so, but that depends too. If the owner of the dog washes the dogs teeth everyday (and I`ve seen people doing it), they can keep the dog`s teeth pretty clean. And I`ve seen humans with their teeth all yellow as if they never wash them. Like I said, it all depends, but this is a fact, humans do have a cleaner mouth than dogs.

http://www.usc.edu/CSSF/History/2003/Projects/23210.pdf#search='Do%20dogs%20have%20cleaner%20mouths%20then%20humans'
It also shows that cats have cleaner mouths then dogs.
For those who talk about how dirty your genitals are. Believe it or not your genitals are cleaner then your hands.

i read an article that said kinda both...let me explain...........no their not cleaner then human mouths, but they do transfer less germs so if you kissed both a dog and a kid that had pnemonia youd probably get sick from the kid not the dog

Between eating out of the garbage, toilet, ground, licking their own genitals, occassionally their own vomit, parasites, etc. I wouldn't let one lick me in the mouth. If you ask me, no they are not cleaner.

No. Dogs clean their genitals and their anuses with their tongues. You figure it out. (They also lick cuts and wounds to clean them).
