Maybe something around the house like baking soda? Or some kind of herb?

Have you tried using veterinary products, or only those from a pet shop/supermarket?

Frontline, advantage, etc., are the only products around worth using. Natural doesn't necessarily mean good...some will kill some of the adult fleas on the animal, but won't solve the problem because they won't kill larvae. You also run a risk of poisoning your dog.

And to those who said to use garlic...NEVER, EVER feed garlic to your dogs. It can cause haemolysis (make their red blood cells burst) and can kill them.

I use a product called BasicH2 for my cat and dogs. these products are safe, natural, and toxic free.this is how I administer to my pets.

Add 1/2Tsp of BasicH2 and 2 or 3 drops of Basic G to a gallon of water.Put solution in squeeze bottle.Go around neck first, soak that area so fleas will not run to ears, nose and eyes. Soak down the back and then the rest of the body. Use in shower area or with hand shower. Rinse well. BasicH2 takes the shield off the fleas and drowns them. BasicG gets rid of germs and fungus. Vita-Lea also good for pets crushed up put into food or covered up with something good and give to pets orally. If you want to order go to Shaklee.ca

I have heard sprinkling garlic powder on their food helps repel fleas. Also, be sure to treat your home as much as possible when treating the dog, especially sleeping areas. I use Ortho Home Defense and it works great. I spray once every 2 weeks or so. Plus I shampoo and spray my cat with cheap Walmart spray on the same day. It really seems to keep the fleas at bay.

Eucalyptus tree's. The little round things that fall off of them. What you do is collect a lot of them and put them on a string and make a collar out of them for your dog. My mother used to do that for our dogs when I was growing up. It smells so fresh too. It really works. You should definetly try it.

5 tablespoons of sesame oil, 5 tablespoons of lemongrass juice, lemon and orange skin juice 3 tablespoons, eucalytus oil 3 tablespoons, 1 tablespoon of crushed garlic....

mix them all together and rub it on your dogs collar or coat (do not let them eat it). you can add garlic into their food because ticks and fleas hate garlic in th dogs blood.
