He is a Ori-Pei almost 5 months old. At first I thought he was just peeing in his bed in his cage. He had never any accidents before. But then he was snuggled next to me while I was watching TV and he was sleeping and he just started peeing. I picked him up and he woke up and stopped. So he is peeing in his sleep. Is he having wet dreams? Is it something that will stop when I neuter him? Does it have anythign to do with the fact that he is wimpering sometimes in his sleep? Thanks for any help.

If he id wimpering in his sleep, they dream like humans do.
Also before he comes in for the night, don't leave alot of water out for him at night, then he won't have to go all the time. If this does bnot work, call you Vet up and advise him what is going on, he could have a bladder infection.
Best of luck

When he is whimpering in his sleep he is having a dream. The peeing is probably him submissively peeing because of what ever he is experiencing in his dream. Puppies normally have very little bladder control at that age. That's one reason why even though you may have just taken them out'? and they did their business. Five minutes after you bring them back in the house they will pee on the new carpet. It's not their fault there pups. Just like human babies have very little bladder control? Pups are no different. So when he pees in his sleep? He is most likely having a dream of some sort that is getting him excited, and or he is submissive peeing because of what's occurring in the dream. As he matures it will most likely pass. My advise let him continue to sleep in his kennel and not with you. Good luck.

I am sure it has nothing to do with dreams. The fact that he can't control the muscle that holds his pee, for an adult dog, indicates some problem. Ask the vet. The neutering won't help. Also watch if he is drinking more water than usual, tell the vet when you call him.

Incontinence can be a major problem. If he had been recently neutered it could be a botched surgery, but since he hasn't had it yet, I don't expect it will get better with the surgery. Talk to your vet, see what they have to say. It could be a bladder infection. You can give him cranberry juice, it's good for bladder problems. Just make sure it's the pure stuff not from the grocery store.
